Amber Connect, a global leader in AI-powered vehicle telematics, is making a big move in India. The company is setting up a 4000-seat innovation center in Coimbatore and plans to hire 1,000 professionals over the next two years. In an exclusive conversation, Dushyant Savadia, Founder & CEO of Amber Group, talks about his journey, the company’s expansion plans, and what the future holds for Amber Connect in India.
Q: Amber Connect has been a pioneer in vehicle telematics worldwide. What motivated the company to expand into the Indian market now?
India’s automotive industry is undergoing a major transformation. It is the second-largest manufacturer of two-wheelers and three-wheelers, the fourth-largest producer of passenger vehicles, and the fifth-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer. With the rise of AI-driven telematics and security solutions, India presents a massive opportunity for innovation. Amber Connect has been at the forefront of vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, and we believe our products can significantly contribute to enhancing safety, security, and operational efficiency in India’s rapidly growing transportation and logistics sectors.
Bharat Expo 2025 is the perfect platform for us to introduce our cutting-edge technology to industry leaders, fleet operators, and policymakers. We want to establish Amber Connect as a key player in India’s automotive ecosystem.
Q: What specific solutions Amber Connect has showcased at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025?
At Bharat Expo 2025, we have displayed our AI-powered vehicle security solutions, fleet management tools, theft detection systems, and smart AI dashcams. These technologies are designed to provide real-time tracking, predictive analytics, and intelligent decision-making for both individual consumers and businesses.
Our AI dashcams offer live monitoring and alerts for risky driving behavior, helping fleet operators enhance road safety and reduce accidents. Our advanced theft prevention technology provides real-time alerts and immobilization capabilities, ensuring vehicle security like never before. These innovations are not just about tracking vehicles—they are about optimizing operations, reducing costs, and improving safety at scale.
Q: How do you see Amber Connect’s technology aligning with India’s mobility transformation?
India is moving towards smarter, more efficient, and safer mobility solutions. With increasing concerns around vehicle theft, logistics optimization, and driver safety, telematics solutions will play a crucial role in the future of mobility. Our AI-driven solutions are designed to address these challenges, offering businesses and individuals peace of mind through real-time tracking, automated reporting, and intelligent insights.
Moreover, sustainability is a key focus area. By optimizing fleet operations and reducing fuel consumption through AI-based analytics, our solutions contribute to a greener and more efficient transportation ecosystem. The Indian government’s push towards smart mobility and digital transformation further aligns with our mission to redefine vehicle security and efficiency.
Q: What are Amber Connect’s long-term plans for India?
We are entering India not just as a technology provider but as a long-term partner in the country’s automotive and logistics ecosystem. Our goal is to establish a strong presence through partnerships with vehicle manufacturers, fleet operators, and government agencies.
We plan to set up local R&D and customer support centers to ensure that our solutions are tailored to the unique needs of Indian consumers and businesses. Additionally, we aim to collaborate with policymakers to shape regulations that promote telematics adoption for safety and efficiency.
Ultimately, we want Amber Connect to be synonymous with intelligent vehicle security and fleet management solutions in India. We believe that, with the right partnerships and a commitment to innovation, we can make a meaningful impact on road safety, logistics efficiency, and overall mobility in the country.
Q: Let’s start with Amber Connect’s big announcement—setting up a 4000-seat innovation center in Coimbatore. Why Coimbatore, and what’s the vision behind this expansion?
We are very excited about this expansion. India is a strategic market for Amber Connect, and our new innovation center in Coimbatore is a testament to our commitment to this region. We chose Coimbatore because of its rich engineering talent pool, robust infrastructure, and cost advantages compared to tier-1 cities. The city has a strong ecosystem for technology development, and we believe it’s the ideal place for us to build the next generation of vehicle telematics solutions that will be exported worldwide.
Q: What kind of roles are you looking to hire for, and how will this impact your global operations?
Over the next two years, we plan to onboard 1,000 professionals in various domains, including technology development, sales, and customer support. Our focus is to build a world-class team that will drive innovation in AI-powered telematics, fleet management, and advanced vehicle tracking solutions. The Coimbatore team is already a key contributor to our global operations, and this expansion will further strengthen our capabilities, allowing us to scale rapidly in India and beyond.
Q: You have set a revenue target of Rs 100 crore in India and Rs 500 crore globally over the next two years. How do you plan to achieve these ambitious numbers?
Our global presence in over 100 countries, combined with our experience in economies of scale, gives us a competitive edge. We are seeing strong demand from regions like Africa, the Caribbean, East Asia, West Asia, and North America. By leveraging our deep expertise in telematics, we aim to accelerate growth in India through strategic collaborations, targeted marketing, and innovative product offerings.
Q: Who are your key clients, and how has your technology impacted different sectors?
Our solutions cater to a wide range of clients—from individual consumers to businesses operating fleets. One of our first major clients in India was SSBM Schools in Coimbatore. They had conducted extensive research in the UK, Germany, and India but found our solution to be the most comprehensive. Today, they have over 200 vehicles equipped with our AI-powered dashcams. These cameras prevent distracted driving, ensure seatbelt usage, and detect driver fatigue, ultimately enhancing safety.
Beyond schools, we serve logistics companies, transport businesses, and even large enterprises that require efficient fleet management. One of our breakthrough innovations is our AI-powered dispatch management system. Imagine managing 100 trucks making 20 stops each—it’s a logistical challenge. Our AI tool automates this process, assigning the right driver, vehicle, and the most cost-efficient route while providing real-time alerts in case of deviations. Our solutions have already benefited over 800,000 customers globally.
Q: Are you partnering with any OEMs for your technology integration?
While we haven’t made major OEM partnerships public yet, we have started engagements with one OEM and are in advanced discussions with them. Through Bharat Mobility, we have initiated our India expansion.
Q: What are the challenges and opportunities you foresee in the Indian market?
Security and vehicle misuse are global challenges. Many businesses struggle with unauthorized vehicle use and fuel theft. In India, where many people rely on drivers, there’s often a lack of transparency. Our technology solves these issues by providing real-time visibility.
Fuel costs are a major business expense. Our AI-powered fuel-sensing technology detects even half a liter of stolen fuel, sending instant alerts to owners. From cost savings to security and operational efficiency, our solutions offer a holistic approach to fleet management.
