New Delhi: To address the city’s perennial problem of last mile connectivity from metro stations, a pilot trial of the Mohalla Bus Service has been flagged off by Kailash Gehlot, Transport Minister of Delhi NCT here on Monday. These air-conditioned low floor buses, manufactured by JBM Auto, are loaded with numerous convenience and safety features such as an air conditioning, powered wheel-chair ramp for specially- abled, stop request buttons, emergency safe stop buttons, fire detection & alarm system, in-built fire extinguisher, camera based automatic passenger counter at both the gates, etc.
As part of this trial run, 2 buses have been flagged off today, 1 each under Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster scheme. The cluster bus will operate from Burari Depot on route no. MBS-001 from Majlis Park Metro Station to Pradhan Enclave, whereas DTC will operate the other bus from Rajghat-2 depot on route no. MS-1 from Akshardham Dham Metro Station to Mayur Vihar Ph-3 Paper Market.
JBM Electric buses have been an integral part of the National Capital’s public transportation ecosystem for over 2 years now. A total fleet of 500 JBM ECOLIFE Electric buses are operating the National Capital currently supported by an extensive high-capacity fast charging infrastructure deployed across various bus depots in Rohini, Rajghat and Burari.
Real Time Passenger Information System keeps the location of the buses updated for the passengers traveling in the bus. Safety features such as CCTV cameras have been installed inside the bus that will aid in the uninterrupted surveillance of activities inside the buses. Passengers can use the stop request button to alert the driver to stop the bus at the upcoming bus stop. JBM ECOLIFE bus incorporates other utility features such as Vehicle Health Monitoring System, Fire Detection & Alarm System, public address system etc. For drivers, the ergonomically designed dashboard provides an intuitive and user-friendly system that allows drivers to concentrate on driving without distractions which makes it a truly global product.
